The HHHS Club Fair was a huge success! Students had the opportunity to explore the many clubs and activities available at Hasbrouck Heights High School, connect with staff and student leaders, and discover new ways to get involved in our school community.
Thank you to all of our club advisors and student leaders who took the time to prepare, answer questions, and showcase what makes each club special. We are proud to see so many of our Aviators getting involved, trying something new, and finding their place within our school community.

Our 4th graders took their learning outside to experiment with collisions and energy transfer! Students used balls of different sizes and weights to observe how energy moves during collisions and to put their science lessons into action.
Hands-on learning helps students see science in action, ask questions, make predictions, and draw conclusions from their observations. What better way to learn than by getting outside and experimenting! 🌟🧪

Our primary grade students are hard at work building their phonics skills! Through the IMSE (Institute for Multi-Sensory Education) approach, students engage in explicit, systematic, and multisensory phonics instruction that helps connect sounds, letters, and words.
Our Euclid teachers have completed 30 hours of IMSE training, strengthening their ability to provide consistent, research-aligned instruction that builds a strong foundation for reading, spelling, decoding, and ultimately, reading comprehension.
We know that strong readers are built on strong foundations—and that work starts early! 📖❤️

On 9/25, members of Lincoln's School Staff honored Dolly Parton by dressing like Dolly and making monetary donations to to her passion project, The Imagination Library. The Kindergarten also listened to the story written by Dolly titled "The Coat of Many Colors" and discussed being grateful for what we have.

Our 4th Grade writers are immersed in Workshop, beginning with a Connection to activate prior learning, a clear Teaching Point, and Active Engagement as students practice the skill with their teacher. Students then Link the teaching point to their own writing before being released to work independently on their personal narratives.
As students write, the teacher works 1:1 with individual students, providing personalized feedback, coaching, and support right where it is needed.
The Workshop Model helps students:
✍️ Develop their own authentic writing voice
🧠 Apply skills through meaningful, independent practice
🎯 Receive targeted, individualized feedback
📈 Build confidence and independence as writers
💡 Learn to revise, edit, and strengthen their writing

DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) is a set of brief, research-based assessments that help teachers monitor the development of foundational reading skills. Through 1:1 assessment, teachers gather information about skills such as phonemic awareness, phonics, word reading, accuracy, fluency, and early reading development.
The information gathered helps our teachers:
✅ Identify students' reading strengths
✅ Recognize areas where additional instruction may be needed
✅ Monitor progress throughout the school year
✅ Provide targeted, evidence-based support
✅ Make informed instructional decisions

New Jersey's dyslexia legislation emphasizes early identification of students who may be at risk for dyslexia and other reading difficulties. DIBELS is one of the tools schools can use as part of a broader system of screening and progress monitoring to identify students who may need additional support.
At Euclid, these assessments are an important part of our commitment to early identification, early intervention, and ensuring that every child develops the strong foundational literacy skills needed to become a successful reader.

Hasbrouck Heights High School proudly celebrated Mike Scuilla and his outstanding 30-year career serving the Hasbrouck Heights community. For 17 of those years, Mike served as our Athletic Director, making a lasting impact on generations of student-athletes, coaches, families, and the entire Aviator community.
This past Friday, Mike was honored at halftime of the football game with the Aviator Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his exceptional dedication, leadership, and commitment to Hasbrouck Heights athletics and our students.
We are grateful for the countless contributions Mike has made throughout his career and the legacy he leaves behind. Congratulations, Mike, and thank you for 30 years of service to the Aviator family!
